Christantus Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that all but guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, particularly following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season proved no match against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
